Flat irons: Does my hair need to be completely dry?

I am purchasing a flat iron (Sedu, 1") for the first time, and I don't have a lot of time in the morning. Will my hair stay healthy if I don't have completely dry hair? It's not going to be soaping wet, or anything, just a bit of moisture. Almost damp.

Your hair probably needs to be completely dry before you try to put your flat irons on it.

The problem is that if you put a hot iron on damp hair is that it will actually burn it, it will probably just break the hairs off.

You should only really use specially designed ones for doing that.

You should read the box before you try putting your flat iron on your hair, otherwise you could end up creating a mass of split ends and burnt hairs.

If the box does say that they can be used on wet/damp hair i would still put on a lot of heat protecting products. That way you can ensure that you don't damage your hair.

I have tried straightening my hair from damp and it creates a lot of steam which isn't a good sign.

I would just be really careful with straightening your hair from damp, i don't want you to wreck your hair.

Read the box it came in and usually it will say if it can be used on wet/damp hair. If it doesnt i really wouldn't because that can make it burn more. If your hair is basically completely dry then use a low or medium heat setting. Otherwise just wait until your hair is dry!

If you are using a regular flat iron, your hair should be completely dry. If it is not, you will end up frying your hair. You will know that you ar in trouble when you hear a sizzling sound,

A wet-to-dry flat iron might be what you need. These are made to be used on wet hair. They dry and style the hair at the same time. Chi makes a good one, but there are other brands that work just fine.

Hope this helps.

Well you have to look at the directions or the manual but I recently got a curling iron and it said "can use on damp or dry hair" but my straightener can only be used on wet hair. If it doesnt say anything on the box then i woudnt take any chances because it really can damage your hair.
