What's the best way to dry your hair?

I usually wash my hair early in the morning so that wet hair doesn't bother me when im going to bed. I wear braids and i dread washing my hair because it takes so long for it to dry. I have a hair dryer but it doesnt seem to work effectively. It is old but will a new one work better?

Thanks for answering and have a nice day!

If you are concerned about the health of your hair, you should never do the following:

1. Towel dry - the rubbing motion causes the hair to tangle and knot and as you brush out the knots, sometimes the hair will break off or result in split ends.

2. Braid it - unless it's a loose braid, your hair will kink and break off when its brushed.

3. Blow dry with really hot heat - use a diffuser (which just disperses the air/heat out over more hair) and try the trick of just drying the roots with your head upside down as others have mentioned.

I had very long thick hair for 15 years and that is what I found worked best.

Time for a replacement hair dryer. Best way to dry your hair is upside down.

I use a hair dryer and it doesn't take all that long. It depends on the thickness of your hair. Talk to your hair stylist for tips that are specific to your hair. A newer dryer might help though.

well obviously a new one will be better but becarefull as heat does damage hair you can now buy a spray that protects the hair from heat while you dry it

It is best to let your hair dry naturally, however, there are plenty of hairdryers that do not dry out your hair. Babyliss is a good make.

My hair is the same so I always wash it with plenty of time for it to almost dry totally and then I just finish it off with a dryer so it goes straight. I do have a good dryer though and it sounds like you need one too. I also dry my hair upside down starting at the roots.

For height and volume, dry your hair upsde down. For smoothness dry it down with your fingers. I'd recommend a Tigi Hardcore Hairdryer - they are really good!

Prehaps a more powerful hair dryer? The more expensive 'salon' type ones tend to cost more but work more effiently

If not than rubbing a towel fast causes heat from friction and dries your hair between 3-4 minutes.

If all else fails than you could just leave it to dry naturally!

Get a new hair dryer and dont always use it. Air dry your hair once in a awhile coz a hair dryer can damage your hair.

And when drying do sections of hair at a time and pull the rest back. That way you know every part of your hair gets attention when blow drying it and it all will dry : )

Good luck

Towel dry for a while then let it air dry

A long time a go I gave up using heat on my hair for anything... other than going out into the yard and walking around in the sun awhile. Heat is very d amaging and end-splitting, especially over time. I got looking at older women and noticing how most of them seemed to have "thin hair" I figured it had to be a lot to do with too much washing, too much heat drying, and probably too much going under the dryer at the Beauty Shop. What you might do is get a new dryer, and then blow your hair on the cool/warm setting, after you have kept your hair towel-wrapped a while to suck out most of the moisture.

Definitely time for a new hairdryer. I couldn't imagine leaving my hair to dry naturally. I'd look like a haystack.

The best way to use a hairdryer depends on your hair type. For flat hair, dry it up-side down. For thick/frizzy hair, like mine, dry it from above with hairdyer pointing down the hair shaft. Use some protective heat spray or serum to minimise damage and get a hairdryer with a cold shot option.

Well blow dryers can be an ultimite damage. I have that problem, when i dry my hair it get's to dry and then i get split ends. But since it seems that it's not working at all on your hair; (just the opposite of me), then maybe you need another brand. The brand i have is conair, which seems to work very effectively! But then you might have my problem with getting to much dry hair. Just if you do get conair brand then don't turn it up on max. keep it at low or medium. Then it should solve your problem :)

Thr first thing is to towel dry with a really good absorbent towel. Leave the towel on your head for a few minutes, no longer than 5 or 10 so it blots out excess water.

Discard your old hair dryer and buy a newer one. Look at the extent of the elements in the hair dryer. Choose one where there is a larger surface of the heating coils for your money. Check its fan mechanism too. That may be harder in the stores becaue they dont allow you to test it. If you trust one brand over another, then you can go by the reputation.

Try to get a Tourmauline hair dryer. These work with Ion and do a great and fast job in drying your hair without damaging it.

You shouldn't use a hair dryer! You'll end up in having straw-like hair!
