used to have the same trouble. it may sound kinda drastic but first cut it a little. bout 5cm. try phyto series /the whole pack - shampoo, mask and creme even the oily thing/ for ultra dry hair. stuff like l`oreal can also help but u have to start with something really efficient and then when u get some results and your hair is sufficiently hydrated u can turn to l`oreal. if phyto is too expensive where u are try l`oreal professional series. DON`T straiten it with iron just now. it will kill ur hair!!! believe me i`ve been through it all. leave it at peace for a little while. dont brush it too hard!!! dont expose it to the sun for too long.

when it regains strengh get the nutri gloss series by l`oreal. the cream has little specs in it that make the hair extremely shiny.

and if u start ironing - first shampoo, then conditioner, mask if u have to, cream on the edges and then iron. not more than once a week thoug.

good luck.

ps and i read here some ridiculous ideas of brushing it while its wet. PLEASE DON`T!!!

oh and try phyto defrisant. it will straiten it very nicely and make it all smooth.

Mine is the same. Here is my very effective method:

Use Revlon ceramic hair straightener iron (approx. $25)

Biosilk Silk Cure ($20-25)

Works like a charm!

my hair is the same way and i feel terrible when i go to he beach because i have to wear a hat or take gel with me cuz it gets so puffy. i tried using sunsilk hair line the pink one and also dove shampoo the dark blue and it works. i also iron my hair with an chi hair iron and cut the tips at least twice a months. the best thing it might sound gross but try avocado and egg in your hair like a paste and leave it for a little bit ohh my god what a result shine hair and silky too

I used to have reallly thick and dry hair and these were some of the things that I used to do:

1. deep condition. I really like to slather a bunch of shampoo in my hair, then wrap a hot towel around it and let the steam soak in while i'm in the bath.

2. buy a good straightener. buy a decent hair straightener.

3. haircut. my hair really got into good shape when i chopped it all off to a boy short cut. now my hair is much more manageable and shiny since all the damage is gone. however, if you don't want to do that, i suggest asking your stylist to thin your hair with thinning sheers which makes it more manageable and easier to straighten, or layering your cut to make it lay better.

hope that helps!!

I have had this problem for my whole life, (very curly and frizzy hair) and finally found something that works great. I would suggest investing in a high quality ceramic straightening iron (the one I own is Paul Mitchell) it must be ceramic (will probably cost about $100, but is worth every penny) I've tried regular straightening irons, but they always leave your hair straight, but still thick and fluffy. It must be ceramic to work the way you will need. The iron gets much hotter than normal curling irons, and can quickly straighten all your hair (you could never tell it was curly!) It makes your hair more smooth and shiny. After you have straightened all your hair with the ceramic iron, finsh off with a good hair serum. Just rub it in your hands and smooth over the ends of your hair, avoiding the roots, as it can make your hair look greasy. The best ever is by Kerastase called oleo relax. It's a bit pricey, and is only sold at salons. Any hair serum should work though, The serum will keep your hair smooth, shiny, and moisurized enough to not damage your hair, and you will end up with nice, smooth, shiny, straight hair.

If your hair is also really thick, I would go to the salon and have them thin it out a little bit, and also but some layers in it. That way once it is straightened, you'll be able to tell a huge difference in the way it looks. (And if your hair is like mine, You will never be able to tell it was thinned or layered when it's curly, but then when it's straight, you look like a whole new person!!

There are a few products that I've found work on my poofy dry hair..

In the shower I use the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine deep conditioner [about $4]

And then after I use the Redken Anti-Snap [it's in a blue bottle, about $10]

For shampoo, I've found that Tresemme [or however you spell it] Anti-breakage actually works really well [about $8 for the shampoo and conditioner]. It leaves my hair really smooth.

My hair dresser told me that a way to control the frizziness is to first control the damage and dryness of your hair..and I've found that all of these products do the trick.

Deep condition often, especially if you straighten your hair. Use some of that flat iron lotion which will protect your hair from damage. Purchase a good ceramic flat iron, ceramic works best on the most stubborn hair. Don't forget that shine syrum!

The best way to deal with this type of hair is to moisturize it, by massaging some coconut oil in a regular sort of basis, like once a week or the day before you wash your hair by leaving it on overnight. Gradually your hair will become less dry and become silkier and shiner.

Not sure how long it will take as it depends on the type of hair.

Hope this helps

You need some intensive conditioning. For home treatment, I'd start with a hot oil treatment and make sure your shampoos are formulated for very dry hair. DO NOT wash your hair everyday. If you must wet it, only condition it, don't shampoo it everyday. Before drying it, spray with a leave in moisturizing spray, such as Infinium 23. Then use Humectruss or Pantene leave in conditioning balm or VO5 to smooth the hair. For styling, you will probably need a ceramic flat iron. To avoid drying out even more, try to let it air dry before straightening if possible. Keep your hair trimmed regularly to get rid of the ends.

My hair is straight as a stick.. I usually moisturize my hair like crazy. Shampoo like normal then rinse. Get a heavy conditioner like Pantene and let it sit in your hair for about 10 min. Rinse with hot water then brush straight while wet. Put in a leave in conditioner and dry your hair with a blowdryer or let it dry naturally. Thats what i do... I hope it works for you.

Ok here we go.

First, you need a good Shampoo and conditioner. If money is not a problem, go for Redkin which can be bought at a beauty salon, I heard a lot of great things about this brand frrom both users and stylists. If you're on a budget, Dove Shampoo and conditioner is great. It makes your hair soft without leaving any residue which is very damaging and makes your hair dull looking. Shampoo only the roots of your hair unless you REALLY need to shampoo all of your hair. The ends of you hair are always the driest and most damaged, and shampoo only adds to that. If you can get always with it skip the shampoo altogether once in awhile, often hot water is enough to break up and remove excess oil from your hair.

Whatever you do DO NOT use PANTENE products. It strips hair of it's natural nutriance and coats hair with waxy junk. It may look great at first, but you slowly ruin your hair.

Have you ever noticed that when you first switch conditioners it at first leaves your hair shinny and soft, but after awhile it starts to lose it's effect? Prevent that from happening by buying yourself a second conditioner and alternate it wash to wash. Aussie 3 minute miracle is another great conditioner, and inexpensive. That would be my recommendation but Garnier Furctis is pretty good also.

Use a weekly deep conditioner. If money is not an option deep conditioners from hair salons are best, just ask your sytlist for a recommendation. Otherwise, V0S hot oil treatment (if your hair isn't coloured) or V0S deep conditioning treatment works well, you might want to try others. Someone else suggested to me once to apply the deep conditioner before you go to bed, wrap your hair in a hot damp towel, and keep it on overnight. I've tried it and it makes a difference! Just wrap your pillow with a large towel to prevent making a mess.

Go to the hair salon and have someone chop as much hair off as you can bare, at the very least get your hair trimmed to remove spilt ends. Be sure to follow up for more hair trims every 6-8 weeks to keep your hair looking healthy.

If you blow dry your hair, use a shine serum with a heat protect ant.

Finally I recommend investing in an expensive ceramic plated hair straightener such as Chi. If that's out of your price range, you can buy a cheaper one from Walmart such as Revlon or conair but they're not real ceramic hair-straighteners, they're just ceramic coated. This means they'll only be really effective for the first few months until the coating wears off. Don't forget the shine serum with the heat protectant! Whenever I finish straightening my hair always feels soft and silky. Heat styling IS damaging to your hair though, so only straighten it when you need to. If you have the time, let your hair air dry completely, and then use the hair straightener...rather than blow drying and straightening at once.

Good luck. :-)

Ok if u have ur hair is colored dont use hot oil treatments as it will break down ur color and it will fade faster,if it not colored then try 2 use a deep conditioner at least twice a week ,any more than that then it will have reverse affect, cuz 2 much protein in ur hair will dry it out(deep conditioners have protein)as 4 straigthening ur hair a good flat iron will work ,just take small enough section(just as if u were using a curling iron) and u should get great results.u might want 2 let hairdry naturely or on a lower heat setting ,cuz 2 forms of high heat can cause worse damage,if u blowdry 1st try not 2 use a brush 2 pull it ,as with the 1st sign of humidty ur hair wiil shrink back up, then proceed with flat iron,4 shine just use 1 of many shine sprays available at store, use after u finish with ironing, lightly. hope this helps as I 2 have thick curly, wavey hair!
